Cover as button?

  I’d like to make an image a button to link to another page, but if I put text over the image it becomes a cover and I can’t find anyway of then making the cover a button. Is it possible?

  Hi,

  Thanks for responding. It’s this page here: https://btverran.wordpress.com/short-prose/

  It seems I can have an image as a button if there’s no text, or I can make the text a button if it’s on the image, but I can’t have both – text over an image but it’s still the whole image that’s the link.

  My second choice would be text as the button but without the underline, and even that seems impossible. Having looked at several forums it seems the answers lie in CSS, but I’ve not even started to learn how to do that.

  Well, that is more less how it works.

  If you’d like to add an image as a background and add to it a text that links somewhere else, you’d want to use Cover Block or Hero Block:

  https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/coblocks/#hero.

  If you would like to add just an image that links elsewhere, you can also do that by following the steps @aleone89 mentioned above.

  If your idea is to have text embedded into an image and the whole thing linking to another page, you would need to prepare that image in a graphic program before uploading it.

  Thanks for the response.

  It’s frustrating that it’s not possible to have text embedded into an image and the whole thing linking to another page without having to prep every single picture in a different program beforehand. Seems like it would be a really straightforward and easy feature to implement – are there any plans to do so? Is there a way to feed back to WordPress about feature ideas?
