Crazy Domain DNS settings for emailing
-
Hi all,
I am not very tech savy and am in a bit of a pickle. I had already bought a domain name and setup an email service to work through crazy domain, which was working fine. I then setup a wordpress.com blog and mapped my domain name over to it. I setup the correct DNS through crazydomain so wordpress would work and everything was working fine in regards to the blog being connected to the domain. Only problem is that I didn’t realise my email would not be working now.
How do I go about fixing this? I have a feeling that it is in the “Custom DNS” bit of wordpress and that I need to add a “MX” record that connects to my domain?
When I was on the phone to Crazydomain they said that I need to setup a MX record and point an A record to a certain IP address that I have, but when I changed the current A record from “handled by wordpress” to the IP address crazy domains gave me, my wordpress stops woring with the domain.
If anyone could help me, that would be awesome.
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Adrian,
First, you’d want to create a subdomain on adriangrasso.com pointing to your Crazy Domains email server. You may wish to follow the steps in Add Email through other providers to edit your DNS records.
Let’s use ‘mail.adriangrasso.com’ as an example (you’re free to name it something else).
So you’ll have the following two records in your Custom DNS:
- An A record for mail.adriangrasso.com pointing at the IP address for the Crazy Domains email server.
- An MX record for adriangrasso.com pointing at mail.adriangrasso.com, with priority 10.
Then, you’ll have to change your DNS records at Crazy Domains itself to point to the WordPress.com ones, since I noticed that you haven’t done so yet.
Please let us know if you’re still having trouble adding these records!
