Crazy spike in site views

My site has been getting a rough average of 10 hits a day for the past year or so. Then yesterday it shot to 250 within a couple of hours. Today it has had over 1000 views. I’d be delighted if one of my posts had been read over 900 times, but I can’t help but suspect that some sort of bug or hack has occurred affecting my stats. What’s going on?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No bug or hack has affected your stats. You have a viral post, that’s all.
The answer is invariably found in your referrers. Very often it’s an image search.

Hi there,
I notice that http://www.niche-creative.co.uk/ is not hosted by WordPress.COM.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
Well you just got another hit just from posting this question so…;-0) . Cool site. Creative.
