crazy spike in views

The past 3 days my views have wildly spiked while my visits have remained at a normal level. My usual views have been between 250-350 and visits around 140…something like that. For several days now my views have been upward of 600 -800 while visits remain in the 100s. What is actually happening?

Can someone please check on this for me? It is already ridiculously skewed for the day. 8:30 a.m. here and I have 75 visitors, but 470 views. That is more than the number of views I normally have for the entire day.

It does look like you’ve had some spam viewers over the past couple of days. It doesn’t impact your site in any way, but if you’d like to remove them from your referrer stats, you can do so by following the process described below.

I have had what looks like spam from the videoentertainment site for a really long time, but it’s my stats have only been bizarre for the past few days. Is that what you’re talking about? I did the removal process you recommended, so maybe I just need to wait to see if the stats correct themselves? Thank you!

That’s your best bet. Even if removing the referrer doesn’t fix it, spikes like this usually go away on their own. There is nothing to worry about :)

Hi there, I read the article you recommended above. In my referrers’ section there is no ellipse that you speak of on which to click. I can only click on the link to see the referrers’ site. Any help with this?
