crazymaking spam filter situation

Cue “The Twilight Zone” theme here.
No kidding –
However It does keep my reputation intact with this one :)
-
Weird! I’m off to bed and won’t be allowing that Twilight Zone tune to keep playing over and over in my head all night.

If anyone else runs into duplicate threads like auxclass reported in http://hgrequests.wordpress.com/2014/01/16/duplicate-forums-threads/ please update that thread (rather than this one) and let us know.

You know, it just dawned on me…
Where has supportbot gone off to?

Sad really. Day in, day out, around the clock for over 4 years. Always there to direct the misguided ORG user to the correct corner of the WP universe, sort of like, er, um, ok, sort of like a really useful forum volunteer, but without the added annoyance of being whacked.
Or is it just possible that the poor thing is in the dang sd^w filter and can’t get itself out? Oh noes!
-
I hope he is on a warm beach with a tall cool drink – I wonder if they had a party in his honor? working 24 hours a day for 4 years with no time off is beyond what most people will do

We have sent Mr Support Bot into semi-retirement. We realized he was showing up in incorrect places, such as when people had Jetpack questions, wanted to do import/exports, needed stats or followers transferred, and so forth, and that was often more confusing than helpful. So we sent him off to Bora Bora for an extended vacation.
He still hangs out in the non-English forums at the request of those moderators.
If it turns out that you all miss him too much, we’d be open to discussing his return. :)
-
It’s not a problem as long as we don’t get whacked when we tell org users where to go.
:)
-
We’re also still looking into the issue with the links to .org causing posts to be marked as spam. Just so you didn’t think we forgot about that. :)
-
But EIGHT or more spam links to blogger are just fine: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/buy-nowwashington-vs-columbus-live-stream-online-free-nhl-regular-season-1?replies=1

@auxclass
I know we are not supposed to engage with spammers and we get slap your wrists emails when we do but … there has to be a away for software to recognize the pattern of the live streaming sports blogspot.com blog links and I expect our brilliant coding Staff to solve this real soon.NOTE: It would seem that there’s no way that every copy and paste answer from regular Volunteers in support forum threads can end up in the spam filter unless they were reported as spam and fed to Akismet at some point and by someone, right?
-
Just asking the question @TT – just asking the question about the spam link (which is now gone) as to why Akismet thinks that blogger is OK and our links to WordPress.ORG get hammered.
Seems to me that it should be easy to White List WordPress.ORG links – they are the SAME COMPANY for crying out loud & I know they have some pretty high powered developers and programmers over there.
And the only spam thing that could be done with WordPress.ORG would be to First set up a spam post in the support forum then link to the spam post from here – that is a lot of work for a spammer to do.
-
Perhaps it’s the now lonely Friendly Support Bot’s way of inviting o-honorable-forum-volunteers to accompany him (her???) in Barbados… a much lovelier place perhaps than Bora Bora :)
Perhaps his enforced retirement involved some code which Akismet also uses to exclude him (or her) so it also affects volunteer responses?
Could the SupportBot be recalled to better explain ” Jetpack questions, wanted to do import/exports, needed stats or followers transferred, transfer domain registrar, and so forth…” (misquote!)?
-
Why can’t there be two support bots? One that provides a copy and past JetPack response such as:
Please read this comparison http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are asking a question about a self hosted WordPress.org software install equipped with the JetPack plugin, some solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/ other solutions are found here in the JetPack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
Note: If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post there. However, if you can’t find help at either one of those locations then you can file a JetPack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

Yes, thank you for releasing me from purgatory: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/post-20?replies=1#post-1604608
This time not an org user but a tos violation. Not one word about org and still whacked.
