is there a way to create an exact copy of my blog, so that I can see it with other themes? I want to do this on the back-end so my readers don’t see the development happening.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can have an unlimited number of blogs and I always recommend that everyone has a test blog. You can get one and then play with the new theme on it. If you wish you can even import content into it to be sure about how it will appear.

    Option 1
Our email address is the unique identifier. If you don’t care about having the test blog dropdown access from your dashboard on your existing blog then remain logged in when your register an new blog under the same username. Log in and point your browser to http://wordpress.com/signup to register your new blog.

    Option 2
If you want a test blog that’s completely disassociated from your actual blog then it’s best to log out and create another username and register with another email address.
Log out and create a new username with an new email address > http://wordpress.com/signup to register your new blog.

Re: backup > Once the new blog is registered, follow these steps to get a backup copy of content.
    1. In the old blog, go to Tools -> Export and download the XML file to your computer.

    2. In the new blog, go to Tools -> Import and upload the XML file you downloaded in step 1.

Note: To make sure your photos and other attachments are imported, be sure to tick the ‘Download and import file attachments’ box in the 2nd step of the import process.
