create a menu link for my blog

  Hi. I am new to wordpress.com and have have run into a problem with my theme, Hemingway Rewritten. It has defaulted a link to my blogs on the title, but the title as a link to my blogs is not as clear as a link on a menu bar. Trouble is, I can’t seem to figure out how to create a link on my menu bar explicitly for my blogs. I don’t mind it on the title, but I want their to be another menu option for my blogs so that people can see it. Other needed info: moscowrealestateresource.wordpress.com and I’m currently on a free subscription. Please, any of you savvy vets of wordpress, help this greenhorn figure her way round this joint. :o)

  Hi there,

  Great job on your site so far. I can see that you have a link to ‘Home’ on your main menu, but it does go to a ‘Page Not Found’ page.

  My first recommendation is to check that your Front Page is set to ‘Your latest Posts’ (you can change this later if you decide to create a special Home page):
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  Then go ahead and give this a try and see if we can’t get that Home link to work properly. Navigate to:

  1. Customizer > Menus > (select whatever menu is set as Primary Menu)
  2. remove the existing Home menu item
  3. click on Add Items > Pages
  4. There may be 2 Home pages. Select the one labeled Custom Link
  5. Save

  Test the new Home link in the customizer to make sure it goes back to your Home page.

  Thanks for the heads up about my Home page. Your instructions were easy to follow. The lost homepage was a by-product of my trying to create the menu link to my blog posts. Do you or anyone else know how I can create that in my site menu?

  Hi @moscowrealestateblog,

  It looks like you were you able to figure out how to link to your blog posts. And set up a static Home page.

  Is it now set up the way that you want it?

  As you may now know, the key is in how your ‘Static Front Page’ section is set.
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  • If set to ‘Your latest posts’ then your Home page will be your Blog page.
  • If set to ‘A static page’, then you will need to first create both a Home and Blog page, then select each one relevant to its function in the ‘Static Front Page’ section of the Customizer.
