Create a new site using a different service

  if I buy my domain name from wordpress, do I have to to stay with wordpress forever? Or can I use that domain to create a new site elsewhere?

  Hi there!

  You can always point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers

  You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your new host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

  You can also completely transfer the domain registration as well as long as it has been 60 days since the registration.
