Create A New site while keeping a current site live

  I would like to create a new website while keeping my current site live. Is this possible without creating a second new word press account etc?
  If so how? I am a beginner with word press but would like to give building a new site a go.

  I want to create an a refreshed variant of my current site, but want to start afresh.

  As I will eventually be using the same domain is this still possible?

  If your current site uses a custom domain (for example: yourgroovydomain.com) this is easily done.

  Simply build your site on WordPress.com (you can even set your site to be private/hidden while you build it). Then when you have it set up the way you like, set up Domain Mapping to point your existing domain to your new WordPress.com site.
