Create a new website for a domain I already own

  I’d like to create an entirely new website, unrelated to my existing one, for a domain I already own. How do I do this? Specifically, the domain ilivenow.com is my main site. Recently I purchased backpacker101.com and mapped it to ilivenow.com until I was ready to build the site. I am now ready to do that, but there is no option to purchase a new subscription to create an all new site. So I want to unmap backpacker101.com and create a new site for it.

  Hi there,

  You can create a new WordPress.com site by going to WordPress.com > My Sites > Add a new WordPress. Once that is created, please provide me the link to that and I can move your domain: backpacker101.com to that new site.

  It has been moved as requested. I see that you recently added Premium to that new site. Do you want me to bundle in the domain? Note that your expiration dates will remain the same and will not lose any days because of it. I’m only asking because a domain is included in Premium. So you can renew the domain/Premium for $99, or I can leave it so that you can get another domain.

  Yes, please bundle in the site. Also, I created a page to set as the home page. I would like to make that the default page and set up the backpacker101.com domain to load up this site. Can you help me do that? After that I should be done! :)

  I think I figured out how to enable the default home page. Now I just need to set it up so I can go to backpacker101.com and not get redirected to ilivenow.com which is where it’s going now. Thanks!

  I have bundled the domain. As for the redirection, I’m not seeing that. This is currently what I see:

  I’m all set, thanks! One last question. In the future, if I want to split it off to hand off the site to someone else, is that simply a matter of changing the email address associated with the site?

  You can either hand over the entire account by changing the email, or you can keep your account and have that person create their own WordPress.com account. I can then transfer the site/upgrades to their account.
