  create a short link to a post/page. Your instructions found via Google search do not work. At the permalink icon next to the Title, there is only the option to copy the lengthy permalink. Please advise me. This used to be an easy task, now it appears impossible. Thank you.

  Permalink structure cannot be changed on wordpress.com hosted sites. For that capability, you need to hire a web host and set up wordpress.ORG software install. Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress https://move.wordpress.com/

  I don’t wish to change the permalink – only to create a short link. I could do this in the past. Is it no longer an option? Thank you.

  Thank you. I had found that support document and tried to follow the instructions. My error was in trying from “View” instead of “Edit.” I was able to create the short link under “Edit.” I appreciate your help.
