Create a subdomain for a store
-
I have a wordpress.com blog with a domain mapped to it “example.com”. I am trying to create a subdomain “shop.example.com” for a bigcartel store. I registered my domain through google apps/godaddy. Godaddy won’t allow me to create a new CNAME record because I have the nameservers pointing to wordpress (I think). Is there any way I can create this subdomain through wordpress?
Please help…?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to contact staff on this to make sure that it would not somehow break the TOS here at wordpress.COM.
As you’ve found though, I don’t think it is physically possible. You would have to go self-hosted at godaddy with the software from wordpress.ORG, and then you could create a store as a subdomain.

i’d like to do something similar on wordpress.COM
Currently our name servers of our domain (http://dtspoint.com) are mapped to our wordpress blog / site at http://diamondtechnologysolutions.wordpress.com.
We would like to create a subdomain such as “support.dtspoint.com” that can be mapped to a bug tracking software that we have installed on godaddy.
Is this possible?

“Mapped to a bug tracking software at godaddy?” Are you attempting to debug WordPress.com? I think we need some more details; it’s very doubtful, as well, that staff would allow a blog hosted at WP.com to use a subdomain to link off WP.com. You can contact them and ask directly if you want.

Once you map a main domain to a wordpress.COM blog, you cannot map a subdomain to something else.
You can map a subdomain to a blog here and then use the main domain, but not the other way around.

i setup a subdomain for my wordpress which was coconutblue.wordpress.com
to blog.coconutblue.com but now all it does is links it to my website coconut.com and my blog is no where to be foundplease help

It’s easier for us to help you if you preface your links with http to make them clickable.
-
Take a look at this support document on mapping a subdomain. You have to create a CNAME record for the subdomain.

thesacredpath,
I think that the link you are giving describes the opposite of what plumpfiction wants. The link allows you to map a blog to a subdomain like blog.mysite.org where mysite.org is some other non-wordpress site like a store. What plumpfiction wants is for the wordpress site to be at the main site mysite.org, but then to map a non-wordpress site to a subdomain like store.mysite.org

@chrisqq, I know that but as I said earlier, that is not possible. The only choice for plumpfiction is to map the blog to a subdomain, then they can use the main domain on a different host for the store.
I was actually responding to coconutblue, who is having trouble mapping a subdomain to their blog.
