Create a web page not using the wordpress domain name

  Hi
  I am a beginner in the field, but I would like to create my own web page, using tools such as WordPress’ but I would like to use my own domain name.
  Indeed I don’t want wordpress to appear in my website’s url and I bought my domain name already.
  But it seems that using wordpress implies having a xxx.wordpress.com url.
  Can you help?

  Hi there. First, are you aware there are two versions of WordPress?

  With WordPress.com you create a free WP.com address (yours is http://cabinetgd.wordpress.com/) and your site is immediately live – you just need to fill it up with content. You can then also buy a custom domain (e.g. cabinetgd.com) and have that connected to your free address. If you’ve already bought a custom domain somewhere else, you can connect it to your free address using the domain mapping upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  If you choose this option you’ll be hosted by WordPress.com, so you’ll still have to abide by their terms of service, including the fact that you can’t have advertising on your blog and can’t install custom themes and plugins.

  The other option is WordPress.org. With that option you buy a domain and hosting somewhere else. Then you install the WordPress.org software to that domain and use it to build your own website. There you can use custom themes and plugins, you can edit the source code of your site, and you can add advertising to generate revenue, but you’re also responsible for backing up, upgrading and generally maintaining your site itself, in addition to creating content.

  For help with setting up a WordPress.org site you have to post in that platform’s forum, as WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different.
