Create an unattached page/post that can be linked to
-
I just want to create a ‘page’ or a ‘post’ which will not appear on the main menu bar across the top or appear as a new post YET can be linked to.
I want to create some text which is unattached but can be linked to using it’s url.
I don’t want to post it privately as I don’t want it’s visibility to be restricted.
My end result would be to see the ‘Pen-Pics’ sub-header disappear but can be linked to via it’s url on another page on the sub-header.
I hope this makes sense, thanks for taking the time to read this.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Use a Custom Menu to replace the default Menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Then put your Text on a Page and just don’t put the new Text Page on the Menu.
-
You can create a page and not have it visible in your header.
Twenty-Ten allows custom menus, so you would just exclude the page from your custom menu and keep your “about/contact” page. (You have to make sure that “automatically add new top level pages” is not checked, or your page will show up on your custom menu & you’ll have to remove it manually.)
Go, Neath! ;) (Had a good friend who was a Neath fan. :))

PS – use a Contact Form in place of your email and the spammers will have a harder time getting to you.

~~auxclass! Good to have seen that about the contact — I know I was astounded by how much spam Akismet caught trying to go through my contact form! I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with it in my email. (And I think I’m destined to be about one minute behind the rest of the world! lol)

Thanks for the quick responses – I’m going to have a read through this and then feedback!

Auxclass – if I replace a custom menu will I loose all the pages I’ve created?
mmadfan – small world!!

I’ve created a menu without the page I want as advised but the original menu is still showing.
How to I activate the new menu I’ve created? Any changes I make on the dashboard on the menu section are not changing live. (I’ve made sure I’m saving them before checking).
Thanks!
