Create Expand/Collapse or Popup, etc.

    Hello,
I’d like to be able to ideally, add an expand/collapse function OR create a popup. Essentially I am looking for a way to state a subject and then instead of having a paragraph with details written under that subject, I just want to make the subject clickable and the content either expands/collapses OR I can add a little popup/read more type of thing.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

Hi Nicole, Those functions require script that isn’t allowed on WordPress.com-hosted sites. If it’s important to you that your site behaves in this manner, you may want to consider moving to a self-hosted version of WordPress on an outside server. If you are self-hosted, there are plugins you can install to create popups and expanding/collapsing text.

If you’re interested in learning the differences between hosting your site here, with WordPress.com, and self-hosting via WordPress.org, take a look at this link:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Let me know if you have any questions at all. Wishing you the best!

Can I easily convert my .com site to .org?

If you wish, you can export your site’s content and import it into a new site hosted elsewhere and running the software at WordPress.org.

This link will explain your options:

You will need to secure your own hosting and a custom domain if you don’t already have one. You will then need to set up your theme and plugins separately. We do offer a service called Guided Transfer that will assist you in moving your content over, but we do not provide further support to build additional functionality into your new self-hosted site. You may wish to discuss your needs with a private WordPress developer as part of your decision-making process.
