create new site with existing domain

  I already own a website through GoDaddy. I built a site using Wix.com (easy, but not the greatest) and want to go to a WordPress platform. HOW do I go about doing this? I am pretty pitiful with regards to my tech knowledge on this topic. I’m reading the help pages, but still not sure what/how I want to do! Can anyone walk me through this? I want to switch to WordPress and get rid of the Wix site completely.

  Hi there, to confirm, are you wanting to move to WordPress.com or self-hosted WordPress, using a hosting provider like GoDaddy?
