Hey @lezliehicksevents, you’re more than welcome to start creating your site now and publish when you’re ready.
Re: the existing site’s expiring plan, is that here on our services or with another provider? If you can share a link to the site and let us know your plans, we’ll help you get this sorted. Thanks!

@supernovia Oh great! Can you share how? When I try to start it asks me to sign up for a plan. How do I bypass that. I am currently on wix. Website is http://www.lezliehicksevents.com

Hey there,
You should be able to select the free option as you type in your site name during step 1:
What you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a
.wordpress.comor a.home.blogsubdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it.Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
If you were planning to migrate your site content over from Wix, you would have to select a new theme from WordPress.com because themes from Wix cannot be imported, but the process is pretty straightforward. Our support page provides step-by-step instructions on how to transfer your site content:
For instructions on how to transfer your domain away from Wix and to WordPress.com, please visit Wix support page:

Please take a look at the support page and let me know if you have any questions.
Hope this helps!
