Create website without a domain

  I want to play around with WordPress and see if I can create a website that I like before committing to a domain. Is this possible? It seems like it’s forcing me to pick the domain first.

  You certainly can. You can use the free plan to practice without connecting a domain. You can then upgrade at any time and attach the domain of your choice. Here’s some more info on the plans + pricing!
