Ah yeah, that’s super common with Jetpack — it likes to hang on to sites even after they’re gone. Here’s how to properly remove a deleted site from Jetpack so you stop getting those annoying downtime notifications: 📌 Steps to remove a deleted site from Jetpack 1️⃣ Log into your WordPress.com account
- Head over to https://wordpress.com and log in with the account connected to Jetpack.
2️⃣ Go to My Sites
- In the top-left corner, you should see a My Sites menu.
- Your staging site will still show up there, even though it’s been deleted.
3️⃣ Remove the staging site
- Click on the staging site.
- Go to Settings (in the left menu).
- Scroll all the way down to the Danger Zone section.
- You should see an option like Disconnect Jetpack or Remove site.
- Confirm the removal.
4️⃣ (Optional but smart) Clear out lingering connections in your actual live site
- If your staging site was a clone of your live site, it’s possible Jetpack got confused and thinks both are the same site.
- To make sure your live site is correctly connected:
- Go to Jetpack > Dashboard on your live site.
- Check if everything looks good and that it’s only showing your live domain.
- If in doubt, you can disconnect Jetpack on the live site and reconnect to refresh everything.
5️⃣ You’re done — no more ghost notifications.
If you want me to walk you through the WordPress.com dashboard step-by-step, just say the word. Want me to show you screenshots or a quick demo? Happy to help! 😄
