created new blog with incorrect email address – help!
-
Hello,
My daughter and I created a new blog, and I accidently wrote her email address incorrectly as the contact email. The gmail address is already taken, and I don’t have access to get the verification to regain wordpress access. The blog is on a free wordpress plan, so it doesn’t qualify for human customer support. Does anyone have a suggestion about how I might regain access to our unpublished blog?
Thanks!
Kathy

Hi Kathleen!
To be able to assist you better, I have reached out at the WordPress.com account email that you used to reach out to us here. Please respond back to that email and we can continue our conversation there. -
Hi Kathy,
If the contact email was entered incorrectly and you don’t have access to that address, unfortunately WordPress can’t verify ownership through it. On the free plan, access recovery options are very limited.
A few things you can still try:
- Check if you’re still logged in on any device or browser. If yes, update the email immediately from account settings.
- Look for any confirmation or signup emails in your inbox from when the blog was created. Those sometimes include access links.
- Try the WordPress account recovery process using the username instead of the email, if available.
If none of these work and the blog is unpublished, there may not be a way to recover it on the free plan. In that case, the fastest option is usually to create a new blog with the correct email address.
I know that’s frustrating, but hopefully one of the steps above helps.
