Created second blog, is it too late to register a matching username?
-
I tried searching the forums and found users with the opposite problem, but I apologize if this is a redundant question. I am not trying to obtain a new blog address to match my username… Instead, am trying to register a username to match a second blog address I claimed.
I created a second blog under my WordPress account, but apparently did not select check the option to register a separate username. Ideally, I want to transfer my second blog’s ownership to a matching username, which I assume is now unavailable due to my having claimed the “secondblog.wordpress.com” address. Is it too late to create a separate account with a matching username for my second blog? Is it possible to confirm that the username is not actually in use by anyone else?
WordPress does not ask “_____, is that you? Log in.” like when I attempt to register existing usernames.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, it’s not too late. Create your new account. It shouldn’t matter if the username matches a website in another address, just as long as it hasn’t been used Then log in to the first account (This might require logging out of the second. I don’t remember.). Next, follow the instructions in the section “Transferring Your Blog to Another WordPress.com User or Account” of the support page Moving a Blog.
Once you’ve confirmed the transfer to the specified account by entering a valid username or email address, the website will be transferred…to yourself at the second account, if this is what you specified. If the transfer fails, then ask for assistance from Staff.

If you get a “This username is reserved” notice, please post back here and someone will tag it for Staff help.
If you are dealing with more than one account at a time, either open a private browsing window or an entirely different web browser. (Personally, I’ve found it just easier and less confusing to log out of account A and then log into account B.)

Thank you, musicdoc and justjennifer! At this time, I only have one account with two blogs. I would like to create a new account with a specific username for my second blog. I was under the impression that certain blog addresses could not be created if a matching username/account already existed, so I am hoping that the username is reserved for me?
I tried to register the username “thatkindofbook.” I recently claimed the free wordpress.com blog address of the exact same name as my second blog. I receive this notice when trying to register the username: “Sorry, but the username thatkindofbook isn’t available.”
Shouldn’t the matching username/account be reserved for me, as I created that specific blog address through my only WordPress account?
I can still access and edit the second blog, I would just prefer to have a separate account for it, with matching username, if possible.

@lunatefossa
You actually aren’t able to do this on your own, but I can do it for you. If you could let me know the e-mail address you’d like to use with the username “thatkindofbook” I’ll take care of it for you. Remember, you can’t use the same e-mail address you are using for your current account.Note: If you add the e-mail address here in the forum, I’ll be able to see it, but it will be stripped out of public view for security reasons.

You should receive an e-mail at that address with your new username and password. Let me know if you run into any trouble with that!
