Created sub menus but now they're gone
-
When setting up my blog, I created some sub menus, such as:
Places to go
-United States
-Pennsylvania
-PittsburghEven after saving it, my blog is now showing all of my menu options at once. I had done this under the customize theme section, but now when I go back, there’s no way for me to do it anymore. Am I missing something?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Are you wanting to have the main menu item “Places to go” with the 3 sub menu items listed above beneath it?
I see that you have these sub menu items listed in your main menu but I do not see the “Place to go” menu item there.
I also see that you have created a menu item with drop down submenu items in the past under “Events” and even a sub submenu item under “Concerts”. Perhaps use these as example when creating another.
To access your Menu for editing/additions please follow the link for more information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
If the answer your looking for is not in the documentation or I have confused your inquiry pop back in and provide a little more detail about what step your having issues with and we will be happy to help you in the process.
Cheers

Thanks for your response.
I was going to have United States be a submenu item of Places to Go, Pennsylvania is a submenu item of United States, and Pittsburgh is a submenu item of Pennsylvania (if that makes sense).
Looking at Events, I see that the sub menu items were kept. I originally had other categories done the same way but all of a sudden, all the submenu items for Places to Go were separated and added to my main menu. I do remember how I created my submenus (I went onto customize theme, and then on my blog preview there was a little pencil icon by the menu where I could edit my pages and create the submenus), however, when I go back, the feature isn’t there anymore. So I wasn’t sure why it’s not letting me edit it anymore, or if there’s a different way to go about it then what I was originally doing.
Hopefully my explanation makes sense!

No trouble at all – let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this.
So I was able to activate your theme (Sela) on my test site and recreate what I think your trying to get. Check out this shot and let me know if it’s correct: http://prntscr.com/kfx6wv
If it is correct, I did seem to run into a similar error in setup. Once I dragged and dropped the items into position, all sub and sub-sub menu items seemed to stay listed as main menu items and not drop down items. However, when I dragged and dropped them all out and then returned them back in they seemed to fall into the correct intended position.
Also, it sounds a little to me like you are creating your menu/sub menus differently, not at all incorrectly, just with a different method then I have been. I have been creating and editing my main menu within the Customizer > Menus tab and selecting the Primary Menu to edit. From there I am selecting Add Items and adding the appropriate Page, Post, Category, etc items to my Menu and rearranging the items accordingly by dragging and dropping them where I want them.
If you aren’t already, see if you can manage to access this section and add/rearrange your items as I have in the attached picture above. If you have any troubles just let me know!
Cheers

Hi there!
I was able to locate how to edit my menus based on the instructions you had given me, thanks! Now, it looks like the reason why “Places to Go” is not showing up is because the box is red and says “invalid” in parentheses next to the name. Is there a reason this would happen?

Hey!
This error would only typically appear if the menu items associated Page/Post/Category/etc was deleted after the item was already added to the menu.
Could that have been the case?

Hmm, I did delete a few submenus if that’s what you’re referring to. If that’s the case, how could I fix it?
-
Okay, lets take a quick step back here – when you added the “Places To Go” tab (that ended up being “invalid”) to the menu was it linked to anything? In other words, when you clicked on it’s tab in the main menu did it take you to a page or post? If so, does that page or post still exist?
-
After playing around a bit, I was able to create a new page to replace the invalid one, and then moved the submenus accordingly.
Thanks so much for your assistance, you were so helpful!
