Creating a business page rom the premiums I have already made
-

Alright – sorry, but this is insane… I went in an individually checked all of the MUSFOREST posts (had to guess on a couple)… and go through each page of posts, checking them… and then at the end when I press bulk action and edit, nothing happens. I did this twice… Can you only do a visible pager at a time? – this is going to take forever… and I have more blogs to import!
-
Well – went a little better than I thought… I hope you don’t mind all these real time messages – (you’re probably laughing a bit!) — next time mention (you’ll see all the blogs posts… but they should be page by page most recent import?)… something like that… on to the next blogs… I’ll try to hold off on messages… :)
-
OKAY – the three main blogs are in — TOC, MUSICAL FOREST and Name That Opus. All three stickies are on the main Soundartus page.
Next step? — each page with it’s own art, title and sticky… and widgets? – the dropdown menus on the titles is a good idea… (then cosmetic stuff like making the titles bigger, etc)…. THE PHANTASTIC THEATER and THE PHANTASTIC ZOO are Future Pages… so they need to be created and then I can work on them… thanks. Onward. Need to get to the end so I can see if it all works… Potentially a very good move! — For the Threee Dashes Publications title, I just want a drop down with a Title of a book which is a link to a separate free blog (i.e. as is).

Hey Christopher!
I’ve read through, and I’m going to try to address all of the questions you have that I don’t think you’ve already answered. Let me know if I miss something!
Also – sorry – didn’t I acquire http://www.soundartus.com already?
Not yet – you do have soundartus.wordpress.com and a Business bundle as shown here:
https://soundartus.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
To setup the domain soundartus.com, follow the steps here (no additional cost):
Next step? — each page with it’s own art, title and sticky… and widgets? – the dropdown menus on the titles is a good idea
Can you confirm that all posts are appearing on the correct categories? I’m not sure if I misunderstood your previous posts or not. For example, when I click on the Tales of the Ocean City category here:
https://soundartus.wordpress.com/category/tales-of-the-ocean-city/
I’m shown a list of posts. Are those all affiliated with that novel? Also, it looks like you still have the default post up here:
https://soundartus.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/hello-world/
You’ll probably want to go in and delete that!
Regarding widgets, we can use Widget Visibility to show/hide widgets based on the category of the post:
For example, we can choose to only display a certain widget when someone is on the Tales of the Ocean City category.
For the title, sticky, etc, would you clarify a bit exactly how you would like this to look? Your main page (currently at soundartus.wordpress.com) will display all of your posts across the entire site by default. However, if you would like to change that to an introduction page, you can do that by following the steps here:
-
Okay – I’ll investigate the static front page idea…
But when someone presses the Tales Of The Ocean City link, for example… there should be a sticky for each page – I use that as an Introduction for the page. Then the blog posts flow below it.
Also each one should have their own identity… title on top and illustrative art…. you know “welcome to…”… how best to accomplish?
Some of the ‘themes’ have a big image you can put right up top. If this could change with the various category pages… I might be able to create ‘banners’ for them to act as the intro to the page. If you know iof a particularly good theme for what I’m trying to do, let me know. I’ve been searching through not with the greatest luck.
So – do I create all new widgets for Soundartus… then do the visibility deal… ?
You’d mentioned a menu forming below each Title from Soundartus — when you hover. DO I just create a bunch of new menus?… and then apply them? how. thanks.

Ah – I see. Thanks for clarifying! That should work really well. Once you label a post as sticky, it should show up at the top of the category archive pages as well.
Also each one should have their own identity… title on top and illustrative art…. you know “welcome to…”… how best to accomplish?
I think there are two options here:
1. We could include that information in the sticky post.
2. We could put it in the sidebar here:
So, we would use widgets for this and then include the introduction, art, etc.
So – do I create all new widgets for Soundartus… then do the visibility deal… ?
Start on your widgets page here:
https://soundartus.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
From that page, drag the widget you want to appear into the sidebar. When you expand the option, you’ll see a Visibility setting here:
We can adjust the Visibility settings like the setting shown below to limit the widgets to only show on certain category pages:
Can you give that a try?
You’d mentioned a menu forming below each Title from Soundartus — when you hover. DO I just create a bunch of new menus?… and then apply them?
You would want to include the parent menu items and the submenu items in the same menu like this:
You would just want to drag and drop the menu items into their nested position. We have some instructions on doing that here:
Can you give that a try?

Thanks again!
Right now the stickies do NOT show up on the category pages. They are correctly marked as, for example, categories THE MUSICAL FOREST and INTRODUCTION. But they are not in their… All three of them are on the main page one after the other.
-
SIDEBAR text PLUS the sticky could work… but mostly the sticky. Also I need to find a better THEME. Sunspot is nice, but the title is mished up… and the category title should be across the top so the submenus drop down…
-
DO you know of a theme where the sidebar is particularly prominent? – Each book has illustrative art which is part of it’s identity… this might work well.
-
Sorry to have to ask so many questions. The stickies are not working… and now I am trying to get a new music player to work. I did it before… but when I press ‘choose songs’ nothing happens. The track is in my media… and when searching for instructions ‘Music Player Widget’… I get no help.
-
I tried the GALLERY widget to get some art going… but when I press CHOOSE IMAGES – nothing happens… when I open media… there’s a ton of images that I’ve uploaded in the past. NOTE: I reuploaded the mps music file this morning… yet the music widget still did not respond when I pressed the choose button.
So as of now – nothing is working! The stickies aren’t in their categories… and the widgets do seem to be communicating with the Media. ?
-
Okay – got the music widgets working… couldn’t swear I remember how I did it… how could one know to access them from a different place… etc. anyway… Now to the stickies, better theme… intro page.
-
Could you tell me where to find the ‘widget shortcode’ so I can style it dark? – thanks. I think we are good with widgets now in general… and good news… the ‘Store’ is visible in all the pages since in the side bar… though I’m still trying to figure out how to get more of a ‘storefront’ look…. but that can wait til last.
-
DO you know of a theme where the sidebar is particularly prominent? – Each book has illustrative art which is part of it’s identity… this might work well.
Picking out a few – Gridspace features the sidebar pretty prominently:
https://gridspacedemo.wordpress.com/
The main downside is that the theme only has one sidebar so we wouldn’t have one on the left and the right so the artwork would need to be in the left-hand sidebar. I just like how the sidebar sticks out a bit more.
On the other hand, adaptation does have two sidebars:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adaption/
It also has some cool custom color templates.
Okay – got the music widgets working
Awesome!
I tried the GALLERY widget to get some art going… but when I press CHOOSE IMAGES – nothing happens… when I open media… there’s a ton of images that I’ve uploaded in the past.
Are you adding the gallery widget here?
https://soundartus.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
It should produce a pop-up where you can choose your media files.
The stickies are not working
This is my fault – the sticky setting actually will not affect how the posts display on category pages. I apologize. Options moving forward:
1. Include the content in a sidebar widget alongside the artwork so it’s always featured prominently at the top of the sidebar on the specific category.
2. Change the publish date on the intro post so that it’s always the latest post published in a particular category. The downside is that the URL for the post would always be changing since we include the date in the URL like this:
http://example.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/this-post-title
Could you tell me where to find the ‘widget shortcode’ so I can style it dark?
I’m not sure I understand what you mean here. Could you point me to where you’re seeing the dark styling option for widgets?

Is there a way to do this ONCE? — I tried a later date but it puts it as ‘scheduled’.

How can widgets go side by side in a side bar?

Is there a way to have a post NOT on the main page… the intro music for Name That Opus is nice to have… but it can;t open on the main page!
