Creating a Community of Bloggers / Editorial Help?
-
Hello All,
I want to begin a new blog in which I talk about my personal life experiences, but unfortunately, I have a tendency to overshare or ramble. My old life coach created a “community” with two other bloggers who all read and critique each other’s work, which she found very helpful, and encouraged all of them to keep posting regularly. I couldn’t join her group because their group is strictly for women. Suggestions on creating this kind of community for myself? I don’t care about gender, I just want a second or even third pair of eyes on what I write, and I’m more than happy to do the same for others. Help / suggestions?
Thanks…

Hi shyhustler,
You can add followers to your WordPress account and assign them roles.
if you want to learn more about it, here is the link.https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

Hey shyhustler!
A Facebook group is a hassle-free way to start a community of bloggers who want to share feedback. Start a group here.
To get it going, you can start by inviting people you know who might be interested, or reach out in already existing communities of WordPress bloggers.
I think it’s great what you’re doing! I love to get the perspective of a few trusted people before publishing a post. I always find ways to improve what I’ve written!
Good luck!

A friend of mine started something similar on WordPressdotcom and created a separate site to his main blog and used the P2 theme so that it was more forum-like. He also made the site Private so that only invited users could see and post on the site.
If you don’t want to open a second (or third) site, another option to query feedback from your trusted friends before posting is using the “Request Feedback” option in the Writing Helper module. I don’t believe that this feature is available in the new Post Editor, but it can be sent from the WP Admin dashboard. Here’s more on that https://en.support.wordpress.com/writing-helper/request-feedback/
Hope that also helps.
