  I’d like to create a website for an international group with a simple forum where people can share their current projects. Can wordpress do this?

  Hi – the self-hosted version of WordPress (commonly called WordPress.org) can install a forum by means of a plugin called BuddyPress. You can’t install this plugin on sites hosted here on WordPress.com, but setting up a self-hosted site is quite simple.
