Creating A Free Blog Or Website With WordPress

  Hi all,

  I’m new to WordPress. I just created a free account. I want to create a blog with a few pages or a free website. What should I do? I want to add a background color and maybe some pictures and videos. How do I get started? I know how to code with HTML and CSS. I’m just not sure how to implement my coding skills with the WordPress platform as of yet.

  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated :). Thank you so much!!

  I want to add a background color

  Most themes let you select a background colour, and you can learn how to do so here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-backgrounds/#setting-a-background-color

  Uploading videos directly to your website requires the Premium or Business Plan, as that comes with access to VideoPress: https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/

  However, everybody can upload a video to another video hosting site, such as YouTube or Vimeo, and then embed that video on WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/

  Anyone can upload images though: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/

  I know how to code with HTML and CSS. I’m just not sure how to implement my coding skills with the WordPress platform as of yet.

  Using CSS is exclusive to sites with the Premium or Business Plan. WordPress.com doesn’t allow some HTML tags unless on the Business Plan, and you can learn about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
