Creating a gallery

    Ok, so I know you can create a gallery in wordpress now without the use of a plugin, however what I am struggling with is this line of text from the link below, specifically the bit i’ve made bold in the quoted text.

    “You can add new images from the web with the Add via URL button, or you can add new images from your computer by clicking on Add New”

    It seems to insinuate you can add images from an external source (URL) to the gallery – I have played around trying to work out how to do it and for the life of me can only find a way to insert a photo into a page or post via URL, not use them in a gallery. I’m using external hosting because i’m making a photography portfolio/website and if i upload my photos to wordpress ill run out of room before i’m finished.

    The quoted text comes from this link, but the link doesn’t make it clear how to do it or wether what I’m trying to achieve is what it is suggesting, so hoping someone can help.
