Creating a gallery site on wordpress

  I’d like to start compiling a site of poster designs. Specifically a site for comedy related posters, for example, one person fringe shows, stand up comedy clubs and anything else comedy related.

  The Internet Movie Poster Award site is pretty much what I want to emulate.

  Is wordpress.com going to be the best place to do this. I certainly get enough space with a free account. What I’d ideally like is to be able to do is upload images and then tag them so as they can be found by clicking on a categories link on the sidebar and then have a page of all the relevant images dynamically created.

  Ideally I’d also like other users to be able to upload images to the site, I would however want to approve the image before they were accessible on line.

  I’d really appreciate any help I can get.

  I’m not sure if wp.COM is the best place to do it but as you are probably already aware wordpress.COM does a load of awesome things. Check out these links and see what you can find out.

  wordpress.COM may not be the best choice for you. Have you read the differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org? http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  I operate my own website using WP.org so I know that is something that I can operate under my own hosting. I’m not that familiar with what can be done on the WP.com site as all I run here is an article site

  As this is a separate venture from my own personal site used for work, my producing a fringe show site I was looking for something that could be hosted freely to start with. I’m experimenting with a photo blogging theme at the moment. I might have to try some other sites.

  Any suggestions for those sites would be welcome.

  Sorry that was me above. I registered a new site to try it out. Forgot to change log in and couldn’t work out how to delete a post once I’d made it.

  We cannot “tag” images. We can only Tag the posts they are attached to and displaying in.
