Creating a gallery where pictures can hyperlink to a page or post on your blog

→Hi there, I hope I can explain this well enough to get across what I want to do. I would like to create a gallery of thumbnail size images that where if you click on the picture, it will take you another post within my blog.
Think of a visual table of contents if you will. I have tried before with just adding pictures in and sizing down the pics to thumbnail size but since not all the pictures are originally the same size (and with limitations on width) the result is an unorganized nightmare. The captions for the pictures throw everything off and I end up having pictures all over the place.
However, if I create a gallery, I can have a neat block of thumbnail sized (or larger) pictures, ordered how I want. Unfortunately, I can’t get those pictures to link to any other posts on my blog.
I think that this would be a great feature to implement in the future.
