Creating a Gravatar account
-
I have gone into Gravatar and signed up but they said I need to create a WordPress account. I have a website that uses WordPress but I do not have a WordPress Account. WordPress asked me what domain I would like to use, I put in arianepoole.com (because that’s were I want people to go to buy, that’s my website). But it comes up that the domain is already taken. They ask if it is my domain then I can transfer it to WordPress (I’m not sure if I want to do that. That means that I have to move my domain from Go Daddy to WordPress. Do I also need to move my hosting? My hosting is with LiquidWeb. If I use the arianepoole.com domain name and website then I do have to change the host as well. I’m with a really good host at the minute and don’t want to move. They host my website and my emails. Plus I have paid for my domain name until 2023.
Could I use one of my other domain names askariane.com for WordPress? This one does not have a website. Or could I have a new domain name for WordPress? If I have a new domain name can you still use my existing website arianepoole.com to send people to my arianepoole.com website? Or could I have the askariane.com redirected to arianepoole.com. I am confused! Thank you Ariane Poole -
Hi there!
There is no need to transfer your domain or your site if you don’t want to, you can just keep the WordPress.com without any sites.
If you’d like to create another, new site, you can do so and you can choose whatever domain you wish but, if you only wanted to create a Gravatar, there’s no need to do anything else :) If you go to https://wordpress.com/me, you can add there the address of your site so that whoever clicks on your Gravatar will be redirected to your site. You can also connect your site askariane.com to your WordPress.com account by installing the plugin Jetpack:
