Creating a homepage
-
I went into WordPress.com not really knowing what I was doing. So, when I created this ‘autumn’ page I was completely just following my nose. It took a few tries to get just what I wanted.
Come to find out, WordPress is reading this as my homepage. This is NOT my homepage. So, now I’m trying to create a homepage, but every time I post anything it shows directly underneath this ‘autumn’ page.
I don’t want that. When I’m blogging about Christmas I don’t want this ‘autumn’ page to show up at all.
One of my many question is:
How can I create a stand alone homepage where I get no other graphics or images showing but the image I’ve designated for my intended homepage?
Is there a way I can move this ‘autumn’ page so that it’s not showing with EVERY post that I publish?
If I do move this ‘autumn’ page, will I lose all the likes and comments from my friends?
I know you may be tempted to bypass all of this below, but it’s very important that you read this. Thank you!
Now, in answering my questions I need you to understand something. I’m a COMPLETE NEWBIE. This means you can’t just tell me to go here and go there. With every step, I need you to tell me HOW to get here and HOW to get there. In other words, what do I click on to get from point A to point B. Then, once I’m there, which buttons do I click. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say here.
Let me explain something else to you. I have Asperger’s. I know that you think it’s a disorder. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s not. I’m writing a book about that very issue.
Anyway, those of us with Asperger’s have VERY ACTIVE BRAINS. This means, for me, my head is filled with so many words, thoughts, ideas, images, etc, zooming around in my head. It’s like the Autobahn. Do you want to know how active my brain is? My brain is so active that it interferes with my Circadian rhythm. This tells everyone when to call it a night, it’s time to go to sleep. That function is literally blocked by all the activity in my brain. My brain literally does NOT shut off. Most with Asperger’s are night owls. We function better at night. I just tell people I’m a vampire.
I explain this to let you know why we communicate a bit differently than you neurotypicals. If I ask you a simple question and you give me an answer that is filled with superfluous words that really have nothing to do with what I asked, this means I have all these extra words added in my head along with all the other words, thoughts, ideas, and images that I don’t need. So, what this causes for me is a serious traffic jam in my brain and I’m frozen. I’ve had too much input and cannot take in anymore information.
If I’m talking with friends, I don’t mind sitting around and blabbing. However, if I’m talking ONLY for informational purposes, I don’t need anymore words than what I ask for.
Do you know the biggest complaint we with Asperger’s have about you people? You don’t know how to communicate plainly. If I’m looking ONLY for a direct answer to my direct question you can’t do that. I don’t know why. I don’t need all these useless extra words and I’m NOT nor am I ABLE TO wade through all the words you’re giving me. I’m already drowning in all that’s going on in my head.
Do you watch Jeopardy? If you do, do you remember James Holzhauer? He won nearly $2 million. Once when Alex Trebec (may he rest in peace) asked him how he gained so much knowledge, he said that he goes to the children’s section of the library. The information there is simple and straightforward. In the adult section the information is not quick and easy for the mind to grab. It’s great if you want to know all the little details about something, but if you’re looking for quick, straightforward information go to the children’s section. I thought this guy is my kind of guy. He knows how to use his brain.
Please be as simple and straightforward when answering my questions. I’m begging you because it’s been about 2 weeks now with my asking the same questions and not getting answers to any of them. Thank you.WP.com: Yes

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out and I’ll do my best to explain things as simply as possible for you. :)
This is NOT my homepage. So, now I’m trying to create a homepage, but every time I post anything it shows directly underneath this ‘autumn’ page.
This is because the site is set to show posts on the front page.
To set a static front page please follow these steps.
1. Go to Appearance > Customize.
2. Click Homepage Settings
3. Select “Static front page”
4. From the dropdown that appears for the front page, select the page you require as your front page.
5. From the posts page, select a page that you require that will show your postsIs there a way I can move this ‘autumn’ page so that it’s not showing with EVERY post that I publish?
The above steps will ensure this happens.
If I do move this ‘autumn’ page, will I lose all the likes and comments from my friends?
No content will be lost. :)
I hope this is all useful and helps. :)

Thanks aleone89!
As you can see, I’m nearly there with my homepage. There are a few things I don’t know how to change.
At the very tippy-top where it says, ~ UNFURLING MYSELF ONE SMALL BIT AT A TIME ~ how do I change the color to the rest of the page?
Underneath the header image how do I remove, “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” ― Albert Camus.? AND get that small strip the same color as the rest of the page?
Also, how can I change the color and font of one page without it affecting the color and font of my other pages?
Another thing. I’m a font freak and I love to use fonts to set the tone of everything I create. Is there any way I can upload fonts to my blog?
Or, if I create a post off-site with an unusual font, then cut and paste it to my blog, will I and others ‘see’ the font that I used? Please say yes…. There’s $50 in it for you!! LOL!
For your convenience, I’ve posted the link to the page in question.
Remember that I’m a delicate genius (!) and can only take in simple and direct answers. As I mentioned in a previous post, my mind is so full of words, thoughts, ideas, images. In fact, I’m literally drowning in them. When you give me an answer that is loaded with words that are (to me) superfluous, my mind freezes and I start sinking. The sensory overload I experience is very paralyzing for me.
I know this makes me sound like an idiot and it seems contradictory to say that those of us with Asperger’s (for the most part) are highly intelligent. I can see why this would be confusing for you. Well, aleone89, that’s because you’re not a delicate genius! LOL! Maybe you are and can understand exactly what I’m saying! I hope so.
I think another reason my thought processes are so alien to most people is that I suffered multiple concussions as a child. Alas, my brain is broken, but thankfully, concussions don’t affect a person’s intellect.
Thanks so much, again for all your help!

I noticed that ~ UNFURLING MYSELF ONE SMALL BIT AT A TIME ~ is set as a post.
I thought I had set, I AM ME ~ MULTI-FACETED LIKE A DIAMOND, as my homepage.
How do I correct this?
Thanks again :)

Hello there,
At the very tippy-top where it says, ~ UNFURLING MYSELF ONE SMALL BIT AT A TIME ~ how do I change the color to the rest of the page?
This can be changed via:
1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
2. Change the content in the Site Tagline fieldUnderneath the header image how do I remove, “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” ― Albert Camus.? AND get that small strip the same color as the rest of the page?
To change the text:
1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Widgets.
2. Go to Full Width Footer
3. See the text widget and edit the text.To change the background colour:
1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Colours and backgrounds.
2. Click on the second dot in the list (Secondary Accent colour) and choose a desired colour.Another thing. I’m a font freak and I love to use fonts to set the tone of everything I create. Is there any way I can upload fonts to my blog?
It’s possible to upload fonts to a site, but the site would need a plugin and a business plan in order to do this. ( https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ). What font are you looking to use?
Also, how can I change the color and font of one page without it affecting the color and font of my other pages?
Please see these instructions here on how to change paragraph colour text: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/paragraph-block/#color-settings
Or, if I create a post off-site with an unusual font, then cut and paste it to my blog, will I and others ‘see’ the font that I used? Please say yes…. There’s $50 in it for you!! LOL!
If the same font is uploaded to the site (as above), then yes.
