creating a mailing list

  Hi – I’ve set up an email account with gmail that’s linked to my wordpress blog and I need to know how I can set up a mailing list. I’m promoting a film and I want people who visit the wordpress site to leave their email address for future contact. Do you know a simple way to achieve this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Yes. Create a page and place a contact form on it asking those who would like to subscribe to provide their email address.

  Creating a page is not a problem, but I’ve only got the ‘add media’ icon and not the ‘add contact form’ media button… not sure why but I am running the latest version of WordPress?!

  You’re in the wrong forum, looking at the instructions for a form of WP that you’re not running. You need to be at WordPress.ORG. Your blog does not have a built in contact form function.

  Thanks for the reply. I think for creating a mailing list on the site it sounds like the ‘blog subscription’ widget is the easiest way to go perhaps?

  We can’t possibly give you good advice. We’re not using the same software. Go to WordPress.org where they ARE, and they can help you.

  That’s why I hate posting on threads like this, cause there’s always some ‘expert’ out there who feels they have to be condescending to people like me who are just trying to figure it out… heading over to wordpress.ORG now.
