Creating a new account and website with an existing domain name
-
I want to create a new account and website with an existing domain name that is hosted by GoDaddy. I can log with my user name and password but when prompted to enter an existing domain it won’t accept it. I’m trying: http://%5Bdomain name.com]

Hey there,
Have you tried the steps in the following support doc:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
This should get you going in the right direction.

Hi there,
It’s not possible to map internationalized domain names, i.e. domains containing special characters, on WordPress.com. So you won’t be able to add that domain here.
See:

Kokkieh,
Thanks for the assist. I thought the domain was just a typo in the post.

No problem. In coding situations, % always has a special meaning, and in this case it indicates a unicode character. Looking at it again, though, it looks like the OP meant to place brackets [ ] around the domain, as %5B is the unicode for [. They did not indicate the actual domain they are trying to add.
What is the exact domain you’re trying to add? If this is a new site, try first selecting a free *.wordpress.com domain, and then add the custom domain afterwards. Also make sure your domain does not contain any spaces or special characters – only letters or numbers.
If you’re trying to create a completely new username account, make sure to log out of this account and clear your browser cookies first.
