creating a new blog within one account – need the name

Hello! I may have posted this question incorrectly yesterday, so I’m trying it again. (And I probably didn’t make myself clear the first time.)

Instead of creating a new blog from a new account yesterday, I created it from my existing account. But I didn’t want it to be associated with the existing account (wanted a new name, user name, etc.)

Sadly, I fear I can’t transfer the name of the new blog I created from the existing account. When I went to create the new account from which to create the new blog, I entered the name I wanted and found it, of course, already in use. That’s because I created it. It’s mine.

But now it’s not available (because it’s already in use – but not really, because I haven’t done anything with it other than name it and create a tag line).

Is there a way to create a new account with some other name, then transfer the second blog I created from the original account to the new one to get the name back?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

You can get a new username and add it as a user to your blog.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-contribute-to-your-blog

You can also alternatively transfer the blog like this:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-wordpress-com-user-or-account

    Hope that helps!

    Oh boy!

Are you saying that I can use one user name for one blog, and create and use another user name for the other blog all from one account?

    Thank you!

No. Usernames= accounts. She’s talking about two different accounts.

Yes, when I say username, it is the same as account. So that would be two different accounts.

    You’re welcome!

You can create a new account and transfer the blog to the new account – as noted above

BUT – you can’t create an account that is the same as an existing blog name – just the rules – I goofed on that one a few years ago

yes a blog is reserved for an account name –

    oh.

Thank you all for your responses.

    Darn it.

So that blog name is just sitting there. Useless to everybody. Especially me.

That’s the way I interpret all of your kind answers.

Unless I can transfer it once I set up a new username/account…but that wouldn’t work because I’d have to set up a new name and the name doesn’t transfer. It transfers to the new account/username (which can’t be the old name because it’s already taken).

    Correct?

Thanks in advance for letting me know I understand this correctly. Or not.

    Hi,

You can do it, you just have to:

    1) create a new account/username
    2) then while logged in to your old account, add the new account/username as a user to your blog.
See the instructions to do that here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-contribute-to-your-blog

If you do it this way, both of your accounts will be users of the blog. Then you can remove the old account from the blog afterwards if you wish.

Alternatively, you can just straight up transfer the ownership of the blog from the old account to the new account like this:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-wordpress-com-user-or-account

Either of these two methods should work. Hope that clears it up!
