Creating a new website

  Hi, I’m trying to create a new website with WP and when it is finished and working I would like to transfer it over to my current domain (to replace my old website).
  The first thing I am asked is about mapping my domain – I don’t understand what this means or if I would need to do this as I am not intending to use mey domain currently for testing. Can someone explain pls. Thanks

  Hi , I have an old website which I created years ago with Dreamweaver. I would now like to modernise this site with WP (but I also want to keep my current domain).

  Is there a way I can start and test a new site with WP somewhere so that when it is all finished and working I could replace my old site with the new one.

  I tried to start to create a new site but I am immediately given 2 options about either choosing a new domain or mapping my existing domain.
  I don’t really know which to choose because I want to set up and test a new site but then transfer it to my domain — Can someone suggest te way forward?

  Hi there!

  When you’re prompted to choose a domain, you can keep the free address (one that ends with .wordpress.com, you’ll see the word Free right next to it). You can work on your site with that free address and only map or transfer your custom domain when you’re ready.

  You’ll be able to either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain related.

  You can also transfer the domain to WordPress.com and we’ll be your new registrar. This way you’ll manage everything from one place and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)
