Creating a new WordPress site
-
I am a complete novice at creating a website. I plan to use WordPress and the Divi builder to create a new website that will replace my 10+ year old business website. I own my domain through Go Daddy, and I use a canned website from RedFrame. I created a WordPress account, and am ready to purchase the Premium package. When I attempt to either download the WordPress software or purchase the Premium package, it appears that I must first create a site by providing my existing domain information and map my domain. It will take me some time (months) to create the new website, and my existing website must continue to be live during this process. I am concerned that going through the initial steps of creating a WordPress site will have a negative affect on my existing site. I would contact WordPress support directly to request assistance, however I can’t do that without a paying account…and I can’t purchase a Premium package without going through the steps of providing my domain name and mapping my domain. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tim Andersen

Hello Tim!
You can create a new site and add a Premium plan without mapping your domain right away.
As you are creating a new site and prompted to search for a domain, just enter something to trigger the domain search. Your goal is to get to the next screen with the domain name recommendations. This is where you can opt out of all the domain choices.
Here is a link to a screenshot that circles the link for skipping to choosing a plan for your new site:

At the end of the process, you will have access to support that comes with the Premium plan, and also a temporary domain to use until you are ready for your WordPress.com site to go live.
