Creating a page in the menu that shows my blogs

Hi – not sure if anyone can help with this….

I have created a number of pages, which very seldom change. I use these pages as the titles in my menu.

I’ve now started writing fairly regular articles, so…

What I’d now like to do is have a menu title named “blog”, which when clicked would show the viewer a list of the blogs I’ve written in precis form. The viewer could then click on the precis (or its title) to read the full blog entry.

Hoping that’s clear, and hoping someone can help – thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ah, sorted it now! I just tagged all the blogs with the category “Articles”, and then added that category as a menu title… :)

  • Hi @geoffscontacts!

You can also create a Posts Page – this will gather all of your post automatically, without you having to put them in the “Articles” category.

    – Create a page named “Articles” (or whatever else you would like)
    – Under My Site > Customize > Static Front Page, set that page as your Posts Page
    – Under My Site > Customize > Menus, remove the Articles category, and replace it with your new page :)

Hey! Just jumping in here – hello :)

Can I ask, if I wanted to then had the said page to list the categorised blog posts in the same way that the main blog page showcases them, how can I do this?

For example, I love the feature pictures being shown and visitors having to click on it to get to the post?

    Thanks in advance !

  • Hi @mandywesthorpe!

Is this for mummymandy.com? If so you can use a Category Page. These are pages WordPress creates automatically to gather all of the posts of a particular category together (example: https://mummymandy.com/category/motivational-quotes/)

The format won’t be exactly the same – your home page has it’s own unique layout – but those pages can group all of the posts together for you :)

Hi I have a similiar problem. I have created the Blog page where all my posts automatically get filtered on but I don’t like how they all run together on the same page. Is there a way that I can either make a child menu that can be send once you put the curser over the blog tab? Or if there was a way to hyperlink the picture to the whole blog?

  • Hi @blakebass15!

Yes! You can use the same Category Pages I’ve described above.

Add Categories to your posts with the Categories and Tags section of your editor
    – Use My Site > Customize > Menus to add those categories to your menu
    – Remember: to make a submenu, you can move the category a little bit to the right in the Customizer – if you indent it, it will become a submenu :)
