Creating a photo gallery

    Hi, I would like to add a photo gallery to my site underneath the heading of Portfolio in my menu. When the viewer clicks on Portfolio I would like different catergories such as ‘sunsets and sunrises’ ‘beach life’ ‘countryside’ etc and I would like to upload different photos as a gallery under each sub catergory. Could somebody please advise how I am able to do this? Thanks!

    Hi there, on WordPress.com, galleries and portfolios work a little differently from one another. Galleries are multiple photos displayed together in a post or page and Portfolios act more like blog posts in their behavior and can contain galleries of photos.

    There are a few options to display multiple photos of a specific subject together on a page.

    If you want to arrange those pages so that your navigation bar says “Portfolio” and then have a drop down with sub-pages with ‘sunsets and sunrises’ ‘beach life’ ‘countryside’ etc. then you can add those new Pages to a Custom menu underneath Portfolio page. The quickest way to do this is to open the Customizer and arrange your Menu items following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    I see that you are already adding Galleries to your pages and posts. The more photos you add to those Gallery pages the longer it will take for that page to load for users on slower connections. It also looks like you are uploading full size images which will eat up your 3GB free storage space very quickly. You’ll want to resize your Gallery photos to not more than 1600pixels wide and optimize them before you upload them to your site.     Hello, I’m jumping on this thread to ask another question about the gallery feature. I have several images I’d like to include and they are relatively the same size. In the preview mode, it looks pretty nice, but then when I visit the site, the images are jumbled around. How can I control this better? my site: marisafinetti.com (tab is PORTFOLIO). And also I would like to apply a link to each image. Is this possible in gallery?
