creating a similar theme to a site I like

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello everyone, I’m new to WordPress and I saw a really cool website that I liked. If I see a website based on wordpress is there a relatively simple way to create a website with the sane formatting and my own content and images?

I was able to see the html code but of course it references Word Press stuff. Do I need to create my own word press blog and incorporate it into my site? Any pushes in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Please read this first so there’s no confusion in your mind about the differences between blogs that are free hosted on this wordpress.com multiuser blogging platform and the free software you can get for self hosting from wordpress.org. The two are very different.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
WordPress.com is a hosted blog service. You do not have to download software, pay for hosting or manage a web server. WordPress.com does not permit uploading themes or plugins. WordPress.org is free software. You can install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database.

You cannot incorporate a wordpress.com free hosted blog into your site. You can get a software install from http://wordpress.org to fo that.
