Creating a site for someone else to manage.

I am testing out a concept on an old site I no longer use. If it works, I will expect to increase the scope, but I need to know that it will serve my needs.

I am attempting to build a site for a small business. The owner is completely NON-Tech; untrained in tech and completely uninterested in it. I need this site to be as simple and as easy as possible for him to update content.

To that end I would like to build a ‘form’ into which he can enter some field level content. It doesn’t have to be a ‘form’ with text boxes but, a template that, when he adds a new post, provides a previously defined layout, prepopulated labels, and an image gallery for him to add images to. He can then add product/event/service details as necessary. Think a MS Word template.

This will not succeed if I have to ask him to learn about ‘Blocks’ and what not.

I am just learning about ‘Blocks’ myself and do not see how I can do this sort of thing. I hope I am just overlooking something. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Gary

  • Hi,

That’s beyond the feature set of WordPress.com itself. You could look into if someone has built a WordPress plugin that offers the functionality you are looking for.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/

You could then install that plugin on a WordPress.com site (with the Business plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ) or on a WordPress site on another host (using the open-source WordPress software from WordPress.org).

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
