Creating a site with Word Press – Client login features – User editing
-
I was wondering if Word Press can be used to create a website where I can add features such as login/signups that take you to a different page and if I could then allow for the users who have signed up/logged in to be able to create a profile on the website where they can edit and post their information (think of linkedin) and also have people be able to leave reviews on them or have reviews imported over and shown. Is this possible with wordpress? If not with what platform?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there,
That kind of functionality is not built in to WordPress.com free sites by default, but can be added by upgrading to our Business Plan, which will allow you to upload any plugin or theme “designed for WordPress”
There are quite a few “membership” plugins to choose from, for example, which will add that functionality to your site: https://wordpress.com/plugins?s=membership
To explain, WordPress is an open platform (a bit like your smartphone OS, but for websites) in that there are apps (plugins) you can add to your site to give it functionality it does not have “out of the box” so it is very likely that you could create that kind of site using WordPress, though as I mention it’s not built into our free sites by default.
Is this a type of site you have experience with building in the past? You mentioned LinkedIn, so is it the case that you are trying to create something of a social network like they have? Or did you more intend for your site to offer paid content that only members can read and acces?
It’s worth noting that if you choose the yearly version of the Business Plan, it includes 24/7 live chat support for your general website questions. Since you are new to WordPress this will be very helpful in getting you off the ground in a hurry. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
