Creating a site without a domain
-
I am trying to create a blog as plot94.wordpress.com and do not want to assoicate it with a domain. But I am going round in circles
-
In a bit more detail.
You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.
Would you like to start one?Click on create site
Let’s get your site a domain!
Enter your site’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started
I can’t see how to say “I dont want a domain at this time”.
I just want my blog to be plot94.wordpress.com -

Sorry, i take it back.
Entering either rogerbbegood.wordpress.com or rogerbbegood does not work at the screenshot’ed page above of picking a domain.
Is it stuck in a loop? When I try to create my 1st Post by clicking “Write” at the top right, OR when i try to create my 1st site, it puts me to https://wordpress.com/start/domains?ref=calypso-nosites in a loop.
Is there a 3rd way to do this that lets get a free subdomain, pretty please? :)
WAIT — i figured it out. I use uBlock Origin in my Firefox/Chrome browsers to block ads/javascript and it was the problem. Now when I click “My Site” at the top left corner and then create site it asks me “What is your site called?” and walks me to it.
Hope this helps someone else. :) Thanks you guys.

Well hello, rogerbbegood! I think I see the issue. And it shouldn’t be locking up on you; that might be a bug. The problem is the domain is already reserved by your other account.
Can you log out, and log in again as plot94? Then start here:
https://wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=plot94That should work. :) Just pick free options and you should be good to go. Cheers!
-
And… you should be able to register https://wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=rogerbbegood from this account.
Basically you can’t take “username”.wordpress.com unless you’re logged in as that user.
And if it isn’t working while you are logged in as that user, let us know.

Wo, you are fast. Thanks for checking the subdomainaroni too. I will add that to the other posts that have had the same trouble in a moment.
Gracias mucho.

To be clear for other folks at home, my only real problem was the uBlock Origin addon for Firefox/Chrome. Allowed wordpress.com in it and reloaded the page and boom, was good to go.

Ok have created https://plot94.wordpress.com/ but I think I need to launch it. It is giving me a similar point – doestn seem to allowe me to get in without a credit card as faar as I can seen.
Almost there, pick a plan that’s right for you. Upgrade as you grow.

But this takes me back to “Give your site an address
Enter your site’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started.”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/14SSpGdA91y_ILIzT0bFyOgGf5qq2ZEXpYxpB3xaEdrA/edit?usp=sharingI am going to find a blog host that doesnt want payment….

This “flow” confuses many people trying to launch already created free sites because they assume they still need to place an address in the top field when that field needs to remain empty. As with the screenshot above posted by the OP whilst that field isn’t empty they don’t see their free address lower down the screen or “skip purchase”
