Creating a site without domain name

I want to continue creating a site, but not attach a web address yet, how do I do this?

You can’t create a site without a web address; that’s how the internet works. It’s like having a phone without a phone number. The only solution to do so is by installing the open source wordpress.org locally on your computer.

@staartmees thank you, I’m not completely stupid! I realise that you cannot have a website without a domain. What I needed to know was merely can I create a WordPress site and at then right at the end, once it has been created, connect the domain. I don’t want to pay for connecting a domain until I actually require it to go live. I have already started installing this now.

You can create a free WordPress.com site. The address won’t be critical if you’re going to be purchasing a paid plan to map/transfer your domain to that site at a later date.
