Creating a subdomain of wordpress URL and using elsewhere..
-
Hi there could anyone help me out with a problem I am having. Essentially what I want to do is create a subdomain of my current WP url making forums.bigcomicpage.com then mapping that onto a proboards forum, Which would also be added into the menu.
I know it is possible as the wp guide say’s so (http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/#pointing-a-subdomain-of-a-domain-mapped-to-wordpress-com-to-an-outside-website) but its a bit sketchy for details on how to do this… Can anyone help me out?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To redirect the traffic from your WordPress.com blog to a new site, you will need to purchase the Site Redirect upgrade. You can set it up by following the instruction here:
Provided you have the same permalink structure on your new site and your WordPress.com blog, all of your permalinks will be redirected as well.

You can only do this if you have a mapped domain, i.e. your blog address is something.com (or something.org, something.co.uk, etc) and not something.wordpress.com.
If you have a domain you will be able to edit the DNS and add a CNAME record, pointing the subdomain somewhere else.

Go to your dashboard then select Store->Domains. This will show a list of domains, and your primary domain will have an “edit DNS” button. Click that and you will see the domain control panel where you enter the CNAME record (or A possibly record).
You will have to ask proboards what you map on their side to work in a subdomain, though it looks like they do support this.
