Creating a Subscription Website

Hello, I am brand new to Word Press. What I am wanting to do is create a website where I can offer a self paced program for people to subscribe to. The website contains the content, but you have to subscribe and pay to access it. I realize there are plug in’s needed after researching a bit, but I am completely confused on what I am actually needing. Do I need to first have a Premium Plan with Word Press and then find a plug in to make it a subscription site? Is this something I can do with Word Press? Thank you so much for any help.

For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins (passwords), features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

There is no way to have paid memberships or membership by registration sites on a wordpress.COM hosted site or to have FTP access and plugin functionaility. This guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to a Self-Hosted WordPress Site https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/

Thank you so much for your response. I went ahead and had it hosted at Bluehost, but please forgive being an extreme newbie to this. Now that it is hosted with Bluehost, I still create, edit and add plug ins at WordPress account, correct?

We provide support only for sites hosted by wordpress.COM. We do not provide support for wordpress.ORG software installs. Your site is not hosted by wordpress.COM. Our support docs do not apply, and we do not provide support. You are posting to the wrong support forum.

As you are referring to a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
