Creating a Testimonial Widget

  Hi,

  I was wondering if there is any way to create testimonial widget kind of like this http://slidervilla.com/testimonial-slider/? I was thinking if this isn’t possible I would just create a slideshow of text but thought I’d ask if there was another option before I created it.

  There isn’t such a widget but you can create one in a text widget. What I would do is create a static Page for testimonials and then use a text widget with a text link to that page in my sidebar.

  When folks start putting a lot of clutter in their sidebars the blogging tips blogger in me wants to tell them the truth which is when it comes to widgets and sidebars less is more. They can be distractions that destroy theme appearance and create an amateurish appearance. Worse still they more there are the slower the page loading time is.

  Thanks @timethief – you are fantastic. I had no idea. I was actually debating this morning of taking out the sidebar all together and just having navigation bar at the top to be simple. I will take out the unnecessary widgets and make it clean.

  Mobile use is exploding. That is why I use responsive layout themes and it is also why I put as little as possible in my sidebars these days.

  Responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. And, when responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading. So when we use a responsive layout theme we go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

  Thanks so much! I will look into that. One last question – should the sidebar be on the right or left? I have heard debates over that. I would like to move mine but then I have to change the coding.
