creating a website

  I want to create a website. Unfortunately I’ve got the same problem as lots of other customers when I believe the forums and frequent questions.
  I’ve created my domain, I choose the free “splendio” theme…as I could find a suitable theme for a website that offers a variety of suitable accommodations for people travelling with dogs. I don’t mind paying for a premium customized website… but I would like to try first with a free theme to see if I figure out how to create my site.
  I tried to start it… but I can’t even change the background color like it offers me an “X”!!!
  Like other customers I start to feel foolish. PLEASE help me by choosing the correct site and let me know how to change colours, create a first part, add information, but not as a blog… but as different possiblities. Like I need to add different hotels, pensions, B&B etc. and not all in one text!

  Hi there!

  Depending on which theme you choose, you may or may not be able to adjust the background color as one of the built-in options.

  I see that you’ve adjusted from Splendio to Bromley. If you’re happy with this choice, great! Otherwise, if you’d prefer I assist with Splendio, do let me know. The nice thing about Bromley is that it offers you a support page to help you setup the theme’s features:

  Also, since it sounds as if you’re new to WordPress.com, I wanted to give you two guides which will help you set up your site.

  First, if you want to build a website that includes a blog:
  http://learn.wordpress.com

  Second, if you want to build a static website, that doesn’t contain a blog:
  http://createyour.wordpress.com/

  I would highly suggest going through the steps listed in one of those guides, and adding the pages and images, etc, that you want on your site. Because our themes are dependent on your content, they won’t look quite right, until they have material to fill up their spaces.

  One thing I recommend to users, is when you are building your site, but it’s not ready for public viewing, you make your site private:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Then, you don’t feel pressure for the site to be perfect immediately, as you make all your choices. When you’re done building, you can make the site public again.

  Finally, whenever you get stuck during the process, just send us a very specific question. We can help walk you through an issue, if we know exactly what you’re trying to accomplish, and where you’re getting stuck.
