Creating a website for non-profit society

    We would like to have the terms of contract, the list of costs of the services and additional services like blog, email addresses, hosting and the amount of data included in annual fee. What would it cost to change to an other service provider, if needed later?

    Hello –

    You do not need to pay anything for a site or blog (or both) hosted on WordPress.com. You can do this completely for free and include free email options.

    If you’d like to use a custom domain then you will want to check out our plan upgrades. The features and annual price is listed at wordpress.com/pricing/

    If you decide to move away from WordPress.com there’s no fee (from us) to transfer your domain and your content.

    Thank you so much for your answer. We would like to have either .com or .org type domain, are they both free? And if we would need more space, does it cost more, how is it priced?

    Hi –

    Free sites look like yoursite.wordpress.com, for example.

    You can register a .com or .org site with a plan upgrade. See those at wordpress.com/pricing/

    Domains require annual renewal as well. Read more here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

    The storage on these plans are only used towards media, images, files, documents, and videos. Your posts, pages, and overall text do not count towards that limit.

    Hi again, we noticed that the different templates cost something anyway, different prices. Do we have to pay for the template, if we have g.e. Premium type of account.
    We have about 20 member societies, and would like to include their presentation pages to our site. Which templates would be best to organize their icons on the index page?

    Good Morning –

    I think you are referring to Premium Themes. These themes are included with WordPress.com Premium and Business plan upgrades. You would not need to pay for them in addition to one of those plans.

    If you decide to go with the Personal plan or free account then you would pay a one time fee for those themes. That said, we have dozens of free themes that will work well for your site idea.

    There are a few different ways that you could set up the site.

    First, you could add each of these societies as its own page and link the page to the menu. You could have a “member society” tab in the menu and then have each of these under that menu tab.

    Remember that you are looking at the functionality of the theme, not necessarily what is showing on the demo site. You’re going to totally customize this with your images, pages, posts, text, content, details, etc…
