Creating a Website – problem

How do I lose comments section from my static front page? I want to get ride of the ‘leave a reply’ and comments box. How do I do this please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Edit the page – down toward the bottom check or uncheck the box about having comments on that page – remember to update the Page.

Thanks for that auxclass – However, I don’t see that option – I have gone into to edit the page, scrolled to the bottom and all I can see are ‘likes and share’ which I have unchecked – but nothing relating to comments.
-
Check Screen Options at the top of the page – make sure the box ‘Discussions” is checked

That’s great -many thanks. I’ve not got rid of all the blog-related stuff on the right-hand side of the screen that I didn’t want. However, I still have the ‘leave a reply’ box at the bottom of the page – is there any way I can get rid of this?

All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts as in evidenced own your own blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

Thanks for your advice, but I’m not sure it helps. I don’t think I’ve made myself clear enough – I want to get rid of this from my static front page –
‘Leave a Reply’ and the box that is under it.
Is there any way this can be done or has anyone done it and can help?

Thank you very much timethief, but I’m not trying disable comments as I’ve already done that – I am trying to get rid of the ‘leave a reply’ box.
Has anyone done this and so can they tell me how it’s done in real layman’s terms for a computer thickie like me. None of the answers I have received so far have done this. Many thanks for any help you can give.

Hi all,
Have I come up with a question that’s stumped the community or am I just being really thick? I am trying to set static webpages and want to get rid of the reply box – I know how to disable comments etc, but want to lose the box – does anyone know how I can do this?
Many thanks, Paul
