Creating catogory archive with sitcky post

    Hello,

Basically what I am trying to do is create a catogory archives but with the first post set to be a stcky post in the same way as it can be done on the main page. The idea is so that I can have a post with some information above the other posts.
Then have a static front page so all the posts are displayed as catogory archives in the style above, the idea being that posts of a different nature are seperated out into different headings, without their being one main page that it just a long list of all posts.

I’d also then like to have a main page that has several sub-headings ans updates with the titles of say the 5 most recent posts in each catagory, but i’m assuming thats not possible with wordpress.com?

How should i go about doing this, because i can’t figure it out.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Simply put, that’s not possible on WordPress.com. It MIGHT be possible on a .org blog if you were a coding wizard.

To display info on a category page, you can go to Posts > Categories, hover over the category name, click Edit, enter the info in the Description field, click Update. Note: the Description field accepts HTML and inline CSS, so you can also style the text any way you like.

@theplasticinebox: Sorry, made a mistake above – no inline CSS allowed.

@rain: Before you get too excited, keep in mind that this works only in some themes. See here:

@justpi Thanks that’s getting towards what i wan’t to do. I just need to figure out if it’s possible to embed things in the description? This link works fine in posts but just gets displayed as text in the description field?

    You’re welcome.
Embed things, no. Insert links, yes – see the post I linked to.
